how much does it cost to get a cylinder head on 96 eclipse?
I'm looking at a 1996 eclipse that i want to buy for 1,000 it needs a cylinder head... not sure exactly what that is but does anyone have any idea how about how much (aprox) it should cost to fix it and if i should be able to drive it away if that the only problem? and maybe if you think this is a good deal?

- Im not sure its hard to tell but if you go to a mechnic to put it in itll be over a 200 to put it in.... dont drive it with the cylinder out you will have a lot more stuff go wrong if you do....
- Run don't walk away from this one! It will be nothing but trouble. Just because the seller says that's what's wrong with it doesn't mean there aren't more problems.
- Look for another car. When buying a used car look for one that was driven gently and has the fewest miles on it. Buying one with an existing problem is a really bad idea. This problem sounds like only the beginning of the problems with this car.
- If the seller said it needs a new head gasket that is a big job but can be bypassed if the problem is tiny. There is a copper seal that will do fine if you leave it in. Don't use aluminum oxide rad sealer. If the heads overheated it may be badly warped or cracked. That is a bigger job as it requires a new head gasket too. You need to see about a used motor from another eclipse or a match. You can see how many miles are on the power train too.
