i added gas treatment and fuel injection cleaner and now its stalling.?
my car is a toyota corolla. i added gas treatment and fuel injection cleaner in half tank gas and now its stalling. it was also low on engine oil. i did not notice that. now engine is stalling and black soot is coming from the exhaust. the rpm indicator is not steady. there is a soot smell after that. is it safe to drive this car?

- i hope u added a little bit in the car. im sure when the both chemicals get out of the car it will be better. i dont know if its safe
- i would say no, its never safe to drive a car that wont stay running and cant keep an idle...
- Maybe the two were not meant to be mixed, however it is more likely that the exhuast could be plugged or it is burning oil.
- fill oil fill gas tank try 2 x isoheet if still rough
- Fill the tank up with gas, each item individually was meant to be topped off with fuel. Here you have two items and just a half tank of gas.
- I don't think adding gas treatment (fuel line antifreeze? octane booster?) and injector cleaner would have give you the symptoms that you describe. It sounds as though the engine is extremely rich - and this could have several different causes - fuel pressure, throttle position sensor, screwed up injector(s), mass air flow sensor and so fourth. Why did you feel the need to put the additives in the tank? Did you have any problems before you added them or was it just a preventive maintenance idea?
- You have a piece of dirt clogging one of the injectors and not allowing it to close. I would not drive it just yet I would rev this motor up to about 2K and no more. You may need to hold this engine speed for a few minutes and see if that will unclog the injector. If not then the injectors will need to be removed and cleaned. For that you may want to have your local mechanic come and pick up this car and do the service at his shop.
- In normal usage, meaning not adding excessive amount of cleaner in the gas tank, injector cleaner in gas would not cause the engine to stall unless you pour the cleaner directly right into the throttle. In doing this, you are practically flooding the engine. The black soot coming out the exhaust is caused by the burning of the injector cleaner. If the above is not the case, then I would think your car is burning oil and the low on oil causes the engine to seize up.
- Was the gas treatment an engine treatment or engine oil treatment. That would explain everything if that being the case.
