My 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has issues with stalling and fuel injection. What is the problem?

Me and my dad rebuilt the Carburator, thinking the stalling would stop. Unfortunately, the car continues to stall. As of now, we are thinking the fuel filter or the fuel pump may need to be replaced. Also, when the car is accelerating, the fuel has trouble getting to the engine from time to time. These problems only occur when the car is already warmed up. We do not know what to do next, if you guys have any ideas, help me please.

  1. Yeah look to that fuel filter first. They are often neglected. Then try the fuel pump. Considering the age of your Jeep one of those two may be bad.
  2. there shouldn't be a carb on something that nwe. i have an 88 jeep charokee and it has a straight six. no stalling except when its my fault. if its done alot of sitting you should pull the injectors and have em cleaned. good luck
  3. It's very difficult to get the idle circuits working right on some carburetors when you rebuild them. Typically, the engine will run off idle, but won't idle. I would "bite the bullet" and get a new aftermarket carburetor to try at least temporarily to prove whether it's the carburetor or not. Of course you've checked the engine timing with a timing light and you don't have any big serious vacuum leaks somewhere I assume. You did mean "carburetor" and not "fuel injection", right?? http://www.JCWhitney.com
