Is a direct fuel injection system different from a distributor-type fuel injection system? which is better?

I live in the Philippines and planning to buy a diesel-fueled utility vehicle. Isuzu (direct-injection) and Mitsubishi (distributor-type) has the models I can afford. I hope you can help me with a technical analysis with pros and cons. Thanks in advance.

  1. Injection has to do with fuel, distributor has to do with spark. There are Direct Injected cars out there that have distributors on them. Direct Injection is more economical because the fuel is injected directly into each cylinder. Distributorless ignition is also more economical because the spark is hotter, so you get a better burn.
