Will 1987 Thunderbird fuel tank for fuel injection work with carburator?
I need to replace my fuel tank on my 1987 Ford thunderbird, which has a carburator, and the only kind of fuel tank I can find is one for "fuel injection only". What kind of tank can I use? What's the difference between a fuel tank for fuel injection compared to a fuel tank for use with a carburator?

- you can use a carb and leave the pump in the tank alone but you may have to plumb an adjustable fuel pressure regulator before the fuel enters the carb; carbs usually only need about 7 psi so you'll have to adjust it down to 7psi.
- I would not do this.It is not designed for your year of car.The fuel pressure is to high for carburated cars.
- Pull the pump and leave the pick up tube and relief lines. If the pick up is to short you can get a new one for a couple of bucks at any parts house. Fuel injected vehicles have high pressure in tank fuel pumps. These pumps push to much pressure for a carburetor. So your problem is easy to fix bi losing the high flow pump.
