at what temperature do cylinder heads begin to warp and crack, and how long does the car have to overheat to get it to warp or crack?

  1. Engines are designed to operate within a “normal” temperature range of about 190 to 220 degrees F. So with that said the damage can start at 30 degrees hotter than the recommended range and it can happen in just a few minutes.
