1. The rulers then were the elite bloodline to whom kingship had been handed to from on high. We do have a type of caste system in our social structure to this day. The bloodline elite being "better" than us because they had/have abilities we don't. One ability being to see in all dimensions at once. Many other reasons exists besides this one. As humans, though different species of human, we are the same. They just have abilities that we have forgotten that we have and forgotten how to use. They don't want us to remember them either as it would lead to their exposure and downfall.
