is it ok to buy used carbon products?

i am on a tight budget and i need a good XC race bike. is it ok to buy used carbon? im talking handlebars and a seatpost, nothing real big. i woudnt buy anything that looked abused, but if its only a season old, is it reliable still?

  2. yes, but inspect each piece very carefully for any deep scratches and obvious cracks... if it looks OK and feels smooth, then go for it... any blemishes, question it...
  3. Its not very good to buy used carbon products. There could be hairline cracks in the item that you might not be able to see with the naked eye. Next thing you know something is broken on you or the bike. The best bet would be to get something new or if you have the receipt most bike shops will replace the item for free/little cost. You could try Performance Bikes for cheap stuff.
  4. Just make sure too that you buy a reputable brand of components. Just adds a measure of security to your purchase. You should be fine.
