- Well can only speak for Thailand. Renting a car without a licence will be very difficult or impossible. Also for bikes they ask for it but you might find someone to rent it without showing a licence. Be careful if you encounter an accident...You could be in big trouble!
- I agree with Madonna, you need a license, if you take a motor bike 'maybe' they won't ask, but you are taking a big risk doing that and really you should not, risking all sorts of problems. For a car certainly you need a license and don't think of driving without one!. You really should go to the license office and charm someone to please help you get a replacement. I am sure same applies elsewhere. Good luck.
- you can rent motorcycles rather easily, cars are a different issue. I am sure (as with anything in Thailand) that money talks, if you catch my drift. You just can't rent a car from a large chain. You gotta go to a local guy. If you get in a wreck it will be your fault. As long as you have a CC you should be able to get the car insured, as well.
- Thai people drive crazy on motorcycle and car, please be careful, you can rent easy but very dangerous
