  1. It's very, very hard and by the way the're PILOTS.
  2. F1 Drivers are called pilots now!?! thats a new one on me and ive been watching F1 since i was a kid!!! You'd have to start off in Karting, then work your way into Formula Ford, Formula 3 then possibly into the European F3 series (this is what Lewis Haliton did), then into GP2 or maybe A1GP, and then if uve done enough u may get a Test in an F1 car and that could lead to a full time drive (ala Nigel Mansell-Lotus 1980, Damon Hill-Williams 1991, David Coulthard-Williams 1994, Anthony Davidson Various Teams from about 2003) If you show exceptional talent early in your career you may get picked at a young age by a GP team but its not very common
  3. The easiest way is to buy a Playstation or Xbox and get a Formula 1 game. That is as close as you'll ever get, unless you make some good friends with someone who can get you an F1 paddock pass. If you aren't already winning races in something, it's too late for you to even be considered as an F1 driver, ever. Harsh truth of reality. You can however still have great fun and a good career in Formula Fords, Formula Vees, F2000, or even the Formula Mazda series. Look into the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) or NASA (National Auto Sport Association).
  4. YOU START YOUR ENDEAVORS INTO RACING . . . by stop asking total strangers how to get off your dumbass and into a sport you could never in your wildest fantasies possibly hope to participate in, ever! Who ever suggested the xbox/ps2 answer deserves the best answer, unless it's me for waking your dumbass up to the 9 million dollars I'm guessing you don't have, that you will need to make your lifelong dream come true.
  5. Go kart's are the place to start! If you can, move to Europe as soon as possible and race there. That's where you'll get noticed the fastest. American drivers seem to get lost in the NASCAR factor these days. Easy money too fast. If you really want to race in F-1, you must commit yourself to living abroad and learning the world way VS the America way of racing. The FIA runs F-1 not NASCAR. You must be open for these changes. If you're any good, you'll find the money! Money may or may not be a problem for you, but you'll need to find a lot of funding, and keep it comming as you move up the ladder. Good luck! 6. If you're writing this, then you've pretty much missed your chance...... Senna, Schumacher, Alonso, Nico Rosberg, Kubica, Button + the others started off by racing Karts not long after they mastered the art of walking, never mind could read or write. However, there have been a few "late bloomers" such as 1996 Formula1 champion Damon Hill who first started off racing motorbikes, then went to racing school.... then moved up through Formula Ford > Formula3 > Formula3000 (now replaced by GP2), tested in F1 for a while, then got an F1 race drive. For race schools + other blurb on how to start, check out: http://www.jimrussell.com/ http://www.skipbarber.com/ http://www.andrettiracing.com/ http://www.accusfia.us/ http://www.msauk.org/ http://www.autosport.com/directory/appointments.html You need to attend racing school in order to be granted your license, but also need to go to the Doc's for a medical (basically to prove you can see where you're going + ain't gonna drop dead at the wheel). Failing that, there are also holidays available where you get to play with some old F1 cars (providing you've got about £2500 - £3500 burning a hole in your pocket) http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Product/Id/374/Name/Formula_One_Experience_and_Overnight_Stay http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Product/Id/254/Name/Formula_1_Racing_(F1_-_European) http://www.buyagift.co.uk/Product/Id/540/Name/Grand_Prix_Driving_+_Guest_WS
